Music Video Lesson

We used a range of different techniques to try and create this video. We started by learning about setting up the area which we would be shooting. We learnt about lighting and key terms such as key lighting, which is the most important light in the scene and we had it on a 45 degree angle to the camera. This highlighted the subject in the scene but not the area around him. We also learnt about back lighting which we used to highlight the background of the scene in our video. We also used a fill light to fill a part of the scene which was dark to give the scene equal lighting throughout.

We also learnt about over cranking which aloud us to put slow motion into our video. We did this but increasing the frame rate that the camera records at from 25 fps (frames per second) to 50 fps which would allow it to look smooth when it's in slow mo. To be able to slow down the video but the speed of the music, we had to double the speed of the music which also meant the character had to singing the song in double speed so the lip sinking was in time with the music. We slowed down the footage using final cut, and did this by cutting the speed of the video by half. Then we changed the fps of the video that we wanted it to play at then rendered it.

When editing our piece we firstly had to sync all the video to the same track which allowed the lip sinking to link up with the song. This then would allow us to just cut between all the different pieces of film we have to try and create our music video. We tried not to used too many transitions, as they aren't a common feature of music videos.
